Norfolk Island Pine Botanical Gardens, 1870 - 1880

The building nearest the camera is the Adelaide Club House, designed by E.A. Hamilton and completed in 1864.

Notes on the Australian blue gum tree, 1873
'Notes on the eucalyptus globulus or Australian blue gum tree', 8 pages. There is a covering letter from William Bell to C.W. Eddy, Secretary of the Royal Colonial Institute, dated 9 June (no year), 1 page; an undated letter to Eddy from a colleague (the signature is illegible) who had read Bell's manuscript, 2 pages; and a press cutting commenting on the eucalyptus. The latest date referred to in the text in 1872. As Mr Eddy died in October 1874, the paper must date from 1873 or 1874.
