The photograph was probably taken on the Ulu Selangor extension between Kuala Lumpur and Kepong. This line, running north-west from Kuala Lumpur to connect it with the main mining areas, was started in 1890 and reached Rawing in 1892 and Kuala Kubu in 1894.
