Witwatersrand Gold Mining Company, Knight's Battery, 1888

193 x 124 mm. Showing the stamp battery buildings in the course of erection. William Knight came to the Witwatersrand in July 1886 and formed Knight's Witwatersrand Gold Mining Company which was registered on 8th January 1887. This was the first Rand Gold Mining Company to be registered in the Transvaal.

Wolf cub enrolment, Miss Warner + Cubs and Helpers. 1936 or so, Sophiatown, 1936

100 X 65 mm. This loose print is somewhat puzzling. The preceding details are written on the back (not in Canham's hand). Sophiatown was an African suburb of Johannesburg, and in 1936 Canham was at Oxford. Possibly it was given to him by a friend in view of his interest in young people.
