A collection of monochrome postcards of Zanzibar scenes, possibly published by A.C. Gomes and Sons.
1. Strip Cropping Sentema Prison Farm Buganda, 1940 - 1949
The typewritten caption on the reverse reads 'Alternate strips of cultivation and fallow land under elephant grass can be seen. This method is most effective both for soil conservation and as an ante-erosion measure on hillsides'.

Booklet entitled 'Suez' containing 12 detachable monochrome postcards showing views of Suez, the Canal and Port Said. Published by 'Lévy Fils et Cie, Paris'. The postcards are captioned in English on the front and French on the reverse.
1. Tanganyika Territory [i.e. Tanzania]. Drying sisal fibre on a plantation, in the Tanga District, 1924
The caption on the reverse continues 'Sisal fibre is produced from the plant Agave sisalana and is used mainly for the manufacture of rope and binder twine. In 1923 it was the premier export crop of Tanganyika and this export was valued at £367,228'.

A collection of 18 glass slides and 38 photographs. The slides were used by Hogbin to illustrate talks on her work when on furlough (leave of absence), and their captions were provided by her niece. The captions have been used as titles and have been recorded as found.

At midday a bombardment of Omdurman was commenced and the rest of the day was spent making preparations for the expected Dervish attack the following dawn.

161 x 101 mm. A blurred print. A view showing a group of Grenadier guards on the Parade Ground. After the success of the Battle of the Atbara, the army moved northwards to summer quarters. During the months of July and August they were reinforced by a brigade formed from the 1st Battalion Grenadier Guards, the Lancashire Fusiliers and other units. On August 24 this strengthened army of over 22,000 men moved southwards to start the second phase of the campaign.

The caption on the reverse reads: '2. The bark is stripped from the tree and hammered out with wooden mallets. Before the introduction of cotton cloths, bark-cloth was generally worn, but is now used on ceremonial occasions, and for clothing amongst the poorer classes'.
