This collection illustrates the experience of the RCS during the Second World War. It also documents the festival held to mark the completion of the post-war restoration of the headquarters in 1957 and the celebrations organised for the society's centenary in 1968.

This film (part one of a two-part film) records the Royal party leaving Buckingham Palace on January 31st 1947 to cheering crowds and boarding a train at Waterloo Station for Portsmouth. It records the Royal party boarding HMS Vanguard, entertainment on deck during the voyage, and their arrival at Cape Town on February 17th 1947.
