277 x 230 mm. HMS Northampton was a Nelson Class armoured cruiser, launched 1876, completed 1878, and sold 1905. She was the Flagship N.A. and W.I. Station until 1886 when she went in for a refit. After refit placed on reserve, but commissioned regularly to take part in manoeuvres until 1894, when she became a boy's training ship.
