Scope and Contents

Correspondence regarding political issues concerning the region in which Henry Waugh & Co. Ltd and its successors conducted business, including Brunei, the Federation of Malaya, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand. The correspondence is comprised of originals and copies of letters to Matheson & Co. Ltd and copies of other letters. There are also many related papers, including press articles and monthly political and economic reports on the region.

Scope and Contents

The collection includes palm leaf manuscripts in Burmese and Lao Tham scripts, Burmese, Shan and Lao folding books, Shan manuscripts on silk paper, Chinese documents, letters and maps and ephemera collected by Scott during his time in the Far East. Also included are reports and correspondence relating to Scott's administrative duties in Burma.
