William Worts of St Catharine's College, who died in 1709, bequeathed his estate at Landbeach and King's College Lane, Cambridge, to five trustees for the following purposes:- 1) to pay £30 yearly to the charity schools in Cambridge 2) to build galleries in Great St Mary's Church for the use of Bachelors and Undergraduates 3) to make a causeway from Emmanuel College to the Gogmagog Hills 4) to pay £100 yearly to each of two Bachelors to travel in foreign countries and send home reports of...
