Scope and Contents 81 glass slides in two wooden boxes, marked in hand on the outside 'Slides for talk on Asia Minor'. Includes index to (most of) the slides on three sheets. One box contained numbered slides and a corresponding indexed list, including additional slides which appears to correspond with some slides in the second (unnumbered) box. Scope and Contents The Harrison Collection comprises the papers of and about Jane Harrison collected after her death principally by Hope Mirrlees and Jessie Stewart, former students of Harrison, for the writing of a biography. Most important is the collection of letters to Gilbert Murray and Lady Mary Murray that form the basis of Jessie Stewart's "Jane Ellen Harrison: A Portrait from Letters" (1959). Thanking her for sending a presscutting regarding Cross and Sandbach, two classical fellows in his first year at Cambridge. In his final year, he is changing to 'double supervisions' with [Francis] Cornford for philosophy and Robertson for 'Comps' (literature). He is considering both history papers and going to see Adcock at King's for advice. St Columba's church has been redecorated during the vacation and his new furniture makes his room look cosy. He has secured two tickets for the First and Third Ball and describes a dinner and lunch (also attended by Dixen, Mallinson and Wilson of Cambridge) attended by Heppenstall and Bakhle from Oxford. He is finding Plato's Theaetetus 'hard' but 'awfully fascinating' and Plato is 'so all-embracing'. He has been reading essays by the late Times critic A. B. Walkley and R. D. Hicks' book on Stoics and Epicureans.
