Scope and Contents The collection consists of records of the bishop's administration, and of his officials. The bishops' registers, which at first contained all episcopal acts but later recorded only certain important items of business, start with Bishop Montacute's register in 1337. Scope and Contents The papers include Aelfrida Tillyard's personal and biographical records, the most substantial of which are 75 personal diaries in an unbroken sequence dating from 1897 to 1959. The papers also include copies of some of her published works and manuscripts of some of her unpublished writings, in particular those religious works and novels which she wrote in the 1940s and 1950s.
