Scope and Contents From the Fonds:

The Macclesfield Collection principally comprises the archives of John Collins (1625-1683) and William Jones (1675-1749). As well as being mathematicians in their own right, both men corresponded with leading scientific figures of their day and so the collection includes autograph material by Isaac Newton, Edmond Halley, Henry Briggs, Roger Cotes, Henry Oldenburg and Robert Hooke.

Scope and Contents Travel journal in the form of letters to 'J.H.' - John Henniker(-Major), who succeeded his father as 2nd Lord Henniker in 1803, 375 pages. The journal describes, in a series of letters, 'A Northern Tour in the Years 1775 and 1776 through Copenhagen and Petersburgh to the River Swir joining the Lakes of Onega and Ladoga'. It includes sketches of scenery, architecture and modes of transport. In the inside cover is the bookplate of Lord Henniker (1804) and a cutting from an unnamed sale...
