Roma Brookes’ surviving papers relate largely to her teaching career and to her lifelong interest in Italy and the teaching of languages. There is also some personal and biographical material, including photographs, certificates, testimonials and travel diaries.

The small miscellany of papers listed here includes the following: four volumes of Sophia Turle's personal diaries; one photograph of Sophia Turle; some biographical materials concerning not only Sophia Turle but also her father James Turle and her sister Caroline Turle; and four letters written to Sophia Turle by her sister Mary Turle.

A collection of nine photographic diaries compiled by Thomas Donald Simon, measuring approximately 220 x 155 mm, with photographs as separate pages measuring generally 205 x 145 mm. The diary entries are typed, and each entry is accompanied by a number of photographs, presumably all taken by Thomas Donald Simon himself.

Scope and Contents BULL 1 - 10 is made up of diaries kept faithfully by William (or Paul, as he was known to his family and close friends) Bull from 1878, when he was thirteen years old until some three weeks before his death in January 1931. The earlier diaries were illustrated and all the diaries are interleaved with letters, press cuttings, menus, theatre programmes and photographs relating to the events they describe. Twice yearly, in June and December, Bull compiled a 'Retrospect' of the past six months...
