John Hulse (1708-90) of St John's College bequeathed his estate to the University to fund the following:- 1) a Christian Advocate 2) an annual preacher 3) an annual religious prize dissertation 4) three scholarships at St John's College.

Considerations: £25 14s 4d payable by John Shawe and £300 payable by RM. Endorsed with CS's receipts for these amounts; RM's receipts for £75, £30, £15 and £15 from John Shawe, 1723-7, being interest payable for 5, 2, 1 and 1 years respectively.

The property comprises:- 1) a messuage or cottage with gardens, hempyards etc 2) the 'field next to Sandbach' 3) 'the Broomy Croft, the old corn field, the long field and the croft next Gallimore's' 4) the butcher's shop at the north end of the Market House in Sandbach, previously used by John Shawe the elder and John Shawe, the brother of William. Consideration: £90 at 4% interest payable in one year.

The property comprises:- 1) a messuage or cottage with gardens, hempyards etc 2) the 'field next to Sandbach' 3) 'the Broomy Croft, the old corn field, the long field and the croft next Gallimore's'. Consideration: £100.

The parties are:- 1) Rev. John Hulse of Elworth, clerk 2) Robert Hulse of Winsford, gentleman, Christopher and Jane Holford, William and Ann Malbon of Sandbach, Rev. Thomas Malbon of Congleton and Ralph Hulse of Sandbach 3) Mrs Christiana Egerton of Foston, Derbyshire, widow. Consideration: £600.

The messuage was late the inheritance of Sir Robert Nedham of Shavington, alias Shenton in Shropshire. The parties are:- 1) Sir John Radcliffe of Ordsall, Lancashire, knight, Thomas Rowe of Hartford, Cheshire, yeoman and William Crombock of Salford, Lancashire, yeoman 2) William Raven son and heir of John Raven of Elworth, Cheshire, gentleman. Consideration: £160.

The parties are:- 1) Randle Lockett, son of Raphe Lockett, deceased, of Sandbach 2) Thomas Lowe and John Burrows of Sandbach, blacksmiths 3) George Low of Over Alderley, husbandman. RL covenants to convey the property to GL. When the recovery is suffered TL and JB covenant to stand seised to the use of Frances Pickering and her heirs.
