When the 'Commonwealth in Focus' exhibition was being prepared it was felt that the strong emphasis on the historical aspect, and the fact that the only section on the contemporary Commonwealth dealt with broad issues and organisations rather than individual countries, made some additional material on contemporary developments desirable. A collection of prints produced by the Central Office of Information. The prints measure approximately 165 x 115 mm and have typewritten captions pasted onto the reverse. A sheet of paper with the prints gives the title: 'Progress in the Colonies. Rejected photographs'. A collection of prints by various photographers. Bell makes mention several times in his letters and diaries of taking photographs and many of the prints in the collection are evidently snapshots taken by him or by someone using his camera.
