The journal (c. 305 pages) begins in September 1747, describing the voyage out to India, and concludes with the return of Royal Duke to England on 5 June 1750. The volume includes navigational exercises, transcribed sailing directions and pencil landfalls, and a sketch of the British settlement at Oriocopong.

Diary of a journey through Germany, 8-29 September [1835], apparently in Baly's hand, 122 folios. On fo. 2 is an explanatory note in the hand of the donor. Running from the end of the volume are notes on the geological formations in the districts visited and financial accounts for travel expenses.

F.H.H. Guillemard: Journals and notes
The collection is comprised of nine volumes of journal entries and notes written during the voyage of the 'Marchesa' and one volume of notes for Guillemard's biography of Ferdinand Magellan. Some of the volumes include lists of letters sent home by Guillemard during his voyage to eastern Asia, China and Japan, which provide a rough itinerary of his journey.

fo. 4: journal addressed 'To the He. L.', begins: 'Having settled my Affairs in Arca so ...', and ends: '... the very worst Country I ever saw.' fo. 19: 'Some Particulars relating to the present Situation of Affairs at Tunis.' Apparently unprinted. On cover is the name 'William Mart ...', in an 18th-cent. hand. The surname has been partly erased.

Journal of a Voyage to the Coast of Guinea
Journal of a voyage in the ship Bruce Grove of London. Wells, the ship's clerk, left the ship at Grenada on the return voyage. His journal is preceded (fo. 1v) by a list of officers and crew, and includes a series of engravings, maps, and sketches, some in colour, and a cutting from Chambers' Edinburgh Journal.
