Commonwealth Royal Tour, 1953-1954
The principal part of the collection is a set of programmes and guides prepared for the different legs of the Royal Tour. These are supplemented by related correspondence and papers compiled by the Royal Empire Society and others. The collection is in English with the exception of one item in English and Arabic.

Cruise of the Yacht St George, 1880s-92
A collection of loose modern prints measuring approximately 245 x 180 mm. This prints were copied from an album containing 53 prints compiled during the voyage. Included with the prints are xeroxes of the original explanatory captions. The R.Y.S. 'St George' was owned by Ernest James Wythes (1868-1949); the compiler and/or photographer has not been identified.

Lady Swettenham collection (Malaya and Jamaica)
Photographs by various photographers and three other items. They relate to the career of James Alexander Swettenham, who, after serving in Ceylon and Cyprus, became Colonial Secretary in Singapore in 1895. He was Governor of British Guyana 1901-1904 and of Jamaica 1904-1907. His period in Singapore coincided with the service in Malaya of his more famous brother, Sir Frank Swettenham. Their father was James Oldham Swettenham, Solicitor of Belper.

Royal Commonwealth Society Artefacts Collection
Soon after its foundation in 1868, the Royal Colonial Institute had envisaged the establishment of a museum, but following the 1886 Colonial and Indian Exhibition in South Kensington, and the creation of the Imperial Institute, the plan was abandoned. Over the years, however, the society built up a small, eclectic collection of objects as members donated items they had received as gifts or purchased during work or travel overseas.
