'From Aden to Quetta'

Scope and Contents

Part of a book left incomplete on the author's death. The title, introduction, glossary and index were supplied by the author's daughter, Mrs Rosamond Griffin. The full title is 'From Aden ... to Quetta ... to Lahore ... to Delhi ... to Quetta: the peripatetic life of one army household between 1910 and 1917'. The memoir contains descriptions of train journeys in India and the accommodation, domestic arrangements and social amenities of army families in the early twentieth century.

They illustrate his accommodation; varied range of work in Kuala Lumpur, Pahang, Perak and Terengganu; Malay and European colleagues; official events, military service, travel and recreation. Watercolours and drawings of Edward Frome

Scope and Contents This is a collection of art work created by the Royal Engineer Edward Charles Frome (1802-1890). In 1929 Frome’s surviving daughter, Mrs Frank Wynne, presented some of the South Australian drawings to the Royal Empire Society through the good offices of Sir Harry Wilson, to whom she bequeathed the rest of the collection.
