The cuttings concern Kenyan government and political issues, including Indian claims, labour issues, land tenure and Legislative Council sessions. There is also news from other parts of Africa and from outside the continent. In some cases the dates of the newscuttings have been supplied by the cataloguer in pencil where they were missing.

Four volumes of newscuttings, three relating to Southern and East Africa and one to the Native Question in South Africa, and loose cuttings on related subjects. Many of the articles concern the activities of the colonial powers in Africa, notably Great Britain, Germany, Spain and France.

Cuttings from various publications on the 1892 disturbances, some in French and German with typescript translations. There is a note at the front by H.B. Thomas, October 1968: 'Formerly in Secretariat Library, Entebbe, Uganda, used by Margery Pelham when writing "Lugard, the years of adventure"'.

A scrapbook of newscuttings and a set of pamphlets regarding religion and politics in Uganda. The collection is in English with the exception of a few items in the Ganda language. There is an accompanying letter from D.H. Simpson, R.C.S. Librarian, to the Revd Welbourn, 23 October 1978, regarding the gift of the collection to the Society.

Nigerian Troops in the Congo, circa 1960
A collection of photographs, measuring 240 x 180 mm, probably by official photographers, of the air lift of Nigerian troops to the Congo as part of the United Nations force (ONUC). The first of these went in November 1960: those serving in Kivu Province, where Kindi is situated, were the 5th Battalion and the Field Squadron. Nigerian troops served in the Congo until 1964.

Notes on the Boer War, 1899-1900
Manuscript notes and press-cuttings reporting the events of the war, organised chronologically; not an original memoir. The title page states 'commenced at Durban.' Originally in four volumes, but the second volume is missing.
Nyasaland diaries of David Lawson
Eleven diaries beginning in Cape Town, 1 January 1932, which Lawson was travelling through on route to take up his post, and continuing with occasional gaps up to 1943. The writing is mainly manuscript, but there are some inserted typescript entries. Although Lawson's will bequeathed 'the diaries written by me while a member of the Colonial Civil Service in Nyasaland from 1932 to 1944', there are no volumes for 1941 or 1944.

A collection of uncaptioned loose prints, each measuring approximately 290 x 200 mm. Joined together the prints form a panoramic view of about 180 degrees. The viewpoint of the photographer is from an unidentified building between the High Street and the sea a few hundred yards east of Holy Trinity Anglican Cathedral. Photographer unknown, but see print 5.
