Scope and Contents

Seven leaves (290 × 180mm) bound in a late 17th-century Cambridge style between many blanks by George Bayntun of Northumberland Place, Bath, in, or shortly after, 1894. It is possible that this was a copy for Walter Curle (or Curll), D.D., Fellow of Peterhouse 1598 to 1616, Bishop of Bath and Wells to November 1632 (when he was translated to Winchester) and a notable benefactor to the building of the chapel.

Scope and Contents There are three hands (not necessarily of three individuals). The first and third texts (Alcuin (f. 1r to 2r) and John of Salisbury (f. 2v)) are copied from John Pits (1560-1616), 'De illustribus Angliae scriptoribus' (Paris, 1619) the Peterhouse copy of which (K.4.14) belonged to John Cosin (1594-1672, Master of Peterhouse 1635-1643 and August to October 1660, Bishop of Durham 1660-72).
