Anduze family papers
Business and family papers of the Anduzes, a Euro-Trinidadian or 'local-white' family of San Fernando, Trinidad, from the early to mid 20th century. Includes company papers of Jules T. Anduze Plantations, company papers of Leonard Anduze, family wills and legal papers, and research notes gathered by Leonard Anduze on the early history of Trinidad. There are very few personal papers and just one photograph.
Anvil found on the site of the Van Rensburg massacre
250 x 185 mm. A photograph showing the anvil which is said to have been found circa 1850. Further details are to be found on the back of the photograph.
The massacre took place in July 1836 on the banks of the Limpopo, forty miles from its confluence with the Olifants River. Information on Johannes Jacobus Janse Van Rensburg (1779-1836) has only been co-ordinated in the 1950s and 1960s.

Comprises annual reports, corporate plans, reports to ministers and heads of government, centenary brochures, programmes, and papers relating to the future of the Institute, the Commonwealth Education Trust and the Centre for Commonwealth Education in Cambridge. The papers were collected by Stephen Cox, a former director of the Institute, and largely relate to his tenure as director, 1991-7, and his ongoing interest in the winding-up of the Institute in the 2000s.

Paintings and drawings by school pupils in Africa and India and a selection of artwork from other countries, some mounted on cardboard. The collection includes work by pupils of George Stevens, a friend of Richard Carline, who taught at a school in Africa before the Second World War. A covering note by Unity Spencer explaining the origins of the collection is with RCMS 58/1.

Asphalt Lakes, Trinidad
A collection of photographs mounted on card, measuring approximately 205 x 155 mm., with brief typed captions pasted to the mounts. The collection shows stages in the extraction, transportation and refining of pitch from the asphalt lake at La Brea, in the south-west corner of the Island. Raleigh used the pitch from this lake to caulk his ships as early as 1585, declaring it to be the best he had ever used.

Collection of eighty-seven slides (seven negatives) and nine prints relating to the East Coast, New South Wales and Queensland; the second batch, apart from numbers 26-32, are of the interior, 33-51 the Snowy Mountains and 52-86 the region of Alice Springs. The captions are from those written on the slide mounts or in correspondence with Mr. Joselin. Numbers 50-51 and 82 are professional photographs. Photographer is also the doner, F.E. Joselin.
