Anduze family papers
Business and family papers of the Anduzes, a Euro-Trinidadian or 'local-white' family of San Fernando, Trinidad, from the early to mid 20th century. Includes company papers of Jules T. Anduze Plantations, company papers of Leonard Anduze, family wills and legal papers, and research notes gathered by Leonard Anduze on the early history of Trinidad. There are very few personal papers and just one photograph.
Army uniforms of the Empire and Commonwealth, 1860s-1940s
A collection of loose prints of various sizes, printed reproductions and other ephemera relating to the uniforms of overseas military units. The prints are by various photographers. The file also includes a photocopy copy of Tylden's Royal Commonwealth Society Library Talk - 'The history of the overseas armed forces' (10 April 1960).
Asphalt Lakes, Trinidad
A collection of photographs mounted on card, measuring approximately 205 x 155 mm., with brief typed captions pasted to the mounts. The collection shows stages in the extraction, transportation and refining of pitch from the asphalt lake at La Brea, in the south-west corner of the Island. Raleigh used the pitch from this lake to caulk his ships as early as 1585, declaring it to be the best he had ever used.

Life in Trinidad
Collection of colour 35 mm transparencies given by the High Commission for Trinidad in August 1982. When planning the exhibition 'Commonwealth in Focus' the library requested material from Commonwealth Governments and these slides were sent in response. A continuous slide show was prepared to portray contemporary aspects of the countries of the Commonwealth and nine of these slides were copied for inclusion. The image descriptions are copied from the list supplied with the slides.

A collection of loose photographs in two sizes: approximately 190 x 140 mm and 255 x 195 mm. The prints have captions pasted to their backs. The collection shows towns and tourist spots in Barbados, Jamaica, Trinidad, Tobago, Antigua and Grenada. Photographs by BOAC, plus one print by the Jamaica Tourist Board.
Princess Margaret's visit to the West Indies, 1955
A collection of loose photographs, in two sizes, approximately 245 x 190 mm and 115 x 90 mm. The photographs have captions either typewritten directly, or pasted on to the backs of the prints. The photographs show scenes and events in Trinidad, St. Kitts and Antigua during February 1955. Photographer unknown.
