Peter was employed in the construction industry before joining the Malaysian International Chamber of Commerce and Industry. He has written a history of the organisation. Waveney has worked with the Heritage of Malaysia Trust to preserve the country’s historic buildings, and with the Kandis Resource Centre to support traditional wood-carving on the country’s east coast. Scope and Contents The collection was originally housed in seven boxes, four of which were specially made with individual slots for slides. These were numbered 3, 6, 10 and 11 and the remaining boxes were unnumbered. Scope and Contents This is a semi-autobiographical memoir recording how Helen Shaw’s parents travelled to Malaya in September 1940 during the Second World War, where her father, Dr William D. Ainslie, took up the post of Medical Officer of Health, Penang. Shaw was born in May 1941. She recounts how she and her mother Marcia Margaret Ainslie were evacuated from Penang to Singapore, and then Java, after Penang was bombed by the Japanese in December 1941; their travel from Java to Western Australia in January...
