When the 'Commonwealth in Focus' exhibition was being prepared it was felt that the strong emphasis on the historical aspect, and the fact that the only section on the contemporary Commonwealth dealt with broad issues and organisations rather than individual countries, made some additional material on contemporary developments desirable. Sir Henry Hesketh Bell Collection

Scope and Contents A collection of prints by various photographers. Bell makes mention several times in his letters and diaries of taking photographs and many of the prints in the collection are evidently snapshots taken by him or by someone using his camera. Some professional work is included in the albums, the two most prominent photographers being Alfred Lobo (Uganda) and Jose Anjo (Dominica).
