Groundbreakers Interview Series
Scope and Contents
A series of interviews in 2024 with prominent women politicians active in Westminster at the time, from the 1970s onwards.
Interviewees were Baroness Anne Jenkin (Cons), Anne Campbell (Lab), Baroness Hilary Armstrong (Lab), Baroness Gillian Shephard (Cons), Baroness Harriet Harman (Lab), Baroness Margaret Beckett (Lab), Dame Caroline Spelman (Cons), Baroness Estelle Morris (Lab), Baroness Helene Hayman (Lab), Baroness Emma Nicholson (Cons), Baroness Susan Kramer (LD), Baroness Virgina Bottomley (Cons), and Baroness Margaret Hodge (Lab), as well as a discussion with Allen Packwood OBE, Director of the Churchill Archives Centre.
The interviews were conducted by Jackie Ashley, Deborah McGurran and Boni Sones OBE in association with the audio-visual unit at Churchill College.
The interviews took place on 4 separate days in early 2024 in Cambridge and Westminster. Full video of the interviews was captured (GBKR 1), and then edited into seven audio podcasts by the interview team (GBKR 2).
