The Papers of Barbara Rankin

 Fonds
Reference Code: GBR/0014/BARA

Scope and Contents

Throughout her time working for Edwards, and also after this period, Barbara Rankin maintained a series of scrapbooks, in order to record the work on human embryology carried out by Edwards and his colleagues Colin "Bunny" Austin, Barry Bavister, Richard Gardiner, Martin Johnson and Jean Purdy, at the Marshall Laboratory. The scrapbooks include press cuttings, papers by Edwards and his colleagues, programmes and photographs on Edwards's pioneering research into in-vitro fertilisation, and also record his work at the Bourn Hall clinic for in-vitro fertilisation in Cambridgeshire, which he founded with the gynaecologist Patrick Steptoe in 1980.
