Includes an introduction by the British Liaison Officer to the [United States Army Command and General Staff] College, Colonel [Boycott]; and questions and answers (after 1 hour).
Subjects of the lecture include independence of Malaya [later part of Malaysia], the spread of communism, numbers of combatants on both sides, the challenges posed by the geography and terrain of Malaya, troops from Commonwealth countries involved in the conflict, the importance of shooting practice for patrols, control of food, use of informers, ambushing tactics, and the capture of a guerrilla leader [Ming Li].
Subjects of the questions include different types of weapons used in Malaya, use of the Air Force, uniforms worn by guerrillas (the Malayan National Liberation Army), psychological warfare, training of soldiers, army clothing for the jungle, the appeal for the local population of joining the communist groups in the jungle, communist propaganda, army rations, Chin Peng, and tactics of guerrilla warfare.
