Scope and Contents
Written from H.M.S. Orion in the 2nd Battle Squadron of the Home Fleet, Berehaven in Ireland/the Republic of Ireland, 94 Piccadilly, the Royal Automobile Club and the Beefsteak Club in London, Dunrobin Castle in Sutherland, the North British Station Hotel in Edinburgh and Cowley House in Uxbridge.
Subjects include peace in Turkey as part of the Eastern Question, the possibility of war, Sir Winston Churchill's part in the resignation of Sir Francis Bridgman, a letter from Robert Falcon Scott, "Scott of the Antarctic", from his last expedition, to Sir George Egerton, the assassination of King George I of Greece and the Balkan war.
Includes mention of Princess Saltikoff, Clementine Ogilvy Spencer-Churchill [later Baroness Spencer-Churchill of Chartwell], Lieutenant William Ogilvy Hozier and Princess Louis of Battenberg.
Also in the file, an order of service for the funeral of Augusta Millicent Anne Mary Kennedy Erskine, widow of James Hay Erskine Wemyss of Wemyss, held at Wemyss Castle.
