Written from H.M.S. Albion, Sheerness, the Commodore's House at the Royal Naval Barracks in Devonport, 94 Piccadilly, the Marlborough Club, the Army & Navy Club and 9 Chesterfield Street in London, H.M.S. Balmoral Castle, Government House at Pretoria and Government House at Cape Town in South Africa, Salisbury in Rhodesia [Zimbabwe] and Government House at Livingstone in Zambia.
Subjects include the Turkish Revolution, riots in Berlin and in Paris, the Duke and Duchess of Connaught's visit to South Africa, investitures at Government House in Cape Town, the competition between the English and the Dutch languages in South Africa and a method of irrigation used in South Africa.
Includes mentions of Robert Falcon Scott "Scott of the Antarctic", and Victoria Eugenie of Battenberg "Ena" Queen Consort of Spain.
Also in the file, a letter from the Hon. Alice Elizabeth Millicent Erskine-Wemyss [later Alice Cunnack] to Lady Wemyss from Commodore's House, Royal Naval Barracks, Devonport, written with Lord Wemyss guiding her hand.
Most of the letters are written on mourning paper.
