Scope and Contents
Includes: letter from 1st Duke of Marlborough [earlier John Churchill] to an unknown recipient, promising to pass on a letter from a Mr Robinson [? John Robinson, English envoy to Sweden], and asking if his correspondent would let him know what he was doing, as 1st Lord Albemarle did not write regularly, also asking him to give Albemarle an enclosed letter [not present], if he was with him, or otherwise to let the King [? Charles XII of Sweden] open it; contemporary copy of Marlborough's signature, with an engraved portrait; letter from Vice-Admiral Lord Nelson to the Lord Mayor of London [Sir John Earner], withdrawing an earlier letter of the 20th November (WCHL 11/3/1), as it might stir up matters which should remain quiet, but stating that his opinion of the service done by the officers and men who fought [at the Battle of Copenhagen] remained unaltered.
