"The Maurice Case": Papa, 1951 - 1964
Scope and Contents
Correspondence, mainly between Nancy Maurice [later Nancy, Lady Spears] and Victor Bonham-Carter on his chapter on Major-General Sir Frederick Maurice in his book "Soldier True". Other correspondents include: Joel Hurstfield [Professor of Modern History, University College London] on finding a biographer for Maurice (5); Julian Amery, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for War, on finding correspondence between Maurice and David Lloyd George in 1918; Sir [Benjamin] Ifor Evans, Provost of University College London, on finding a biographer for Maurice (3); 1st Lord Templewood [earlier Samuel Hoare] declining to get involved in further controversy.
