Scope and Contents
ELS’s journal as liaison officer with the French Tenth Army and as part of the British military mission to the French Ministry of War. Also includes: messages from the British Fourth Army on prisoner statements and the German advance (25 February), and the situation on 17 March; a telegram from Marshal Robert Nivelle, French Commander-in-Chief, on the United States entering the war (7 April); messages from the British headquarters on the German offensive of 15 April and progress on 19 April; a telegram ordering ELS to report for duty as Assistant Military Attache in Paris.
