This group consists of those papers which do not directly pertain to CS's professional and diplomatic life, though there is some overlap with his diplomatic papers. The papers are loosely grouped by areas of reference. In the intervals between holding public office CS also held private directorships with Rothschilds and the National Westminster Bank. There are papers which relate primarily to his business activities, but contain many personal details also. They have therefore been included here.
