As part of his duties in all his spheres of life CS made speeches to parties and organisations, opened events and buildings, attended conferences and ceremonial dinners and gave interviews. He also wrote articles for newspapers and journals, some of which were accounts of his speeches or interviews; and he wrote pamphlets which elaborated and expanded the views he had expressed. For these reasons the publications and speeches are listed together here; finished copies of speeches are mainly to be found in 4/2, while the draft versions and related correspondence are in 4/3.
