Scope and Contents
These papers cover CS's career as a politician and minister. They include papers relating to the European Parliament and European elections since these also relate to CS's Conservative orientation. They include: letters of congratulation on CS's political appointments; CS's engagements as Lord President of the Council; letters of sympathy following his resignation from the Government in 1981; correspondence with CS's Conservative colleagues; speech notes and correspondence for debates in the House of Lords; European political papers; correspondence with CS's political and economic contacts in the United States, the EEC and France.
