Scope and Contents

Correspondence with Pamela, Lady Lytton [earlier Pamela Plowden], her daughter Lady Cobbold and others on Lytton family papers relating to WSC.

Also includes: copies of WSC's letters to Pamela, 1906-53, on subjects including visiting Venice, 1906, his continuing affection for her, visiting the French army and Italy, 1907, her departure for India in 1922, sending her his history of the Second World War and a painting of Knebworth [Hertfordshire], 1949, his distress at her poor health, 1953 and accepting a knighthood; copies from the Minto Papers relating to WSC's meetings with Sir Gerald Kitson; copies from the papers of Sir George Parkin relating to WSC and correspondence on a missing letter from the Parkin Papers on Pamela Plowden's reasons for not marrying WSC.
