Scope and Contents

Correspondence, mainly with representatives of Sydney Morse and Company, solicitors, and papers on JEP's libel action following a Sunday Times article on an immigration speech by Edward Heath [Leader of the Opposition] at a Conservative rally at Walsall [Staffordshire], January 1969. Includes: drafts of court statements, the statement for publication in the Sunday Times and other legal papers; copies of speeches by JEP on immigration, including speeches at Wolverhampton [Staffordshire] and Bradford [Yorkshire], June-July 1969; press cuttings; copies of correspondence between Merlyn Rees [Home Secretary] and Sir David Renton on a society for the repatriation of immigrants.
