Subjects include: JEP's appointments as Professor of Greek at the University of Sydney and then at Durham; his enlistment in the army and war service in the Middle East and India; his interest in India and the beginning of his political career, 1946; listening to JEP's final campaign speech on the eve of the 1950 General Election and his re-election in 1951; his engagement to [Margaret] Pamela Wilson. Also includes letters from JEP to his parents on his gratitude to them and to his mother on her birthday.
