Scope and Contents
Visit to Italy with the objective primarily of studying the position of Communism in that country and at the same time certain local industrial conditions. Was undertaken by Marlon Duvall on behalf of the Economic League. He left 23 Feb 1951, returning on 10th March. Met on their visit, the Pope, Cardinal Archbishop of Milan, Secretary of State of his holiness the pope, Sir Victor Mallet (British Ambassador), Others in the British Embassy, British Consulate (Milan), Italian State, Employers of Labour, Trade Unions, Other Organisations. Details different Trade Unions and Economic conditions within the country, Welfare and Communist party. Other sections titled: Arms and Ammunition Dumps, Cardinal Mendszenty, Education, Political Position, Conference, Reflections.
