Scope and Contents
Papers from the Second Committee of Experts on German war reparations, chaired by McKenna, with correspondents including: 1st Lord Emmott; Major Hervey de Montmorency; Sir John Bradbury [Principal British Delegate to Reparation Commission] on the formation of the Reparations Committees, inviting McKenna to serve on the second one and on false statements about McKenna in the press (3); Stanley Baldwin, Prime Minister, urging McKenna to accept the invitation to serve on one of the Committees; Otto Niemeyer [Controller of Finance, Treasury]; Comte de Beaumont, Vice-President of the Club de l'Union Interalliee, inviting McKenna to join; Andrew McFadyean, General Secretary to the Reparation Commission (9); Charles Mendl [Press Attaché at the British Embassy, Paris (France)] on the false statements about McKenna; Sir William Plender, senior partner of Deloitte, Plender, Griffiths and Company, accountants; Russell Kettle, partner of Deloitte, Plender, Griffiths and Company, on working for the Commission, difficulties in agreeing procedure with the French and Italians, and results from German banks; Frederick Leith-Ross [British representative on Finance Board of the Reparation Commission], questioning the amounts of German currency held abroad; [James] Ramsay MacDonald, Prime Minister, thanking McKenna for his work on the Committee; Robert Dunwoody, Secretary of the Association of British Chambers of Commerce, passing on the Association's appreciation of McKenna's work.
