Copies of letters from Diana Churchill [later Diana Bailey and Diana Sandys] to her parents, 1915-61, 2000-08
Scope and Contents
Source material on the Churchill family which does not appear to be specific to any particular book. This includes a copy of the Prime Ministerial engagement diary, 1951-55, supplementary extracts from the Times (and other sources) relating to the Churchill family 1908-65, which were used for the biography of Clementine Churchill, and the annotated transcripts of correspondence between Winston Churchill and Clementine, 1908-65. These were also originally made for MS's biography of Clementine Churchill, then reused for other books later, particularly "Speaking for Themselves". Some of the transcripts are MS's originals from the 1970s, with gaps filled in with later copies made by her assistant Ann Hoffmann, 1995-96. There is also some primary contemporary material which has been kept by MS among her own notes and secondary sources.
