Includes: letter from MS to Catherine Soames on the end of her marriage to [Arthur] Nicholas Soames; correspondence on Rupert Soames's engagement and Charlotte Hambro [earlier Charlotte Soames]'s wedding to 3rd Lord Peel, with correspondents including Diana, Princess of Wales and Nicholas Soames; press cuttings on MS and "Winston Churchill: his life as a painter"; letters between MS and Sir Robert Fellowes [Private Secretary to the Queen and Keeper of the Queen’s Archives] on Churchill's horse racing interests, particularly relating to his racehorse Vienna being a "rig" [a stallion which appears to be a gelding], like one of the Queen's stallions; letter to MS from Prince Charles, Prince of Wales, on subjects including his difficulties with the press, Feb 1993; photograph of a sketch of Churchill by Graham Sutherland; correspondence on the unveiling of the statue of Churchill by Jean Cardot in Paris [France], 1998; notes and copies on Churchill's escape from captivity in the Boer War, 1899, including a copy of his letter to John Howard, on sending a consignment of gold watches to him and the others who had helped in his escape, as a token of thanks, 1901.
