Scope and Contents
Letters (copies and originals) between Clementine, Lady Churchill and MS on subjects including: MS's and CS's stays with the Royal Family at Sandringham, Norfolk, Jan 1968, and Balmoral [Scotland], Sept 1968; Clementine's view of Charles de Gaulle as an "old monster"; MS and CS moving into the British Embassy in Paris [France]; MS's duties as hostess; dining with [William] Averell Harriman [American Ambassador-at-Large] and his troubles over Vietnam.
Also includes: MS's diary notes about moving into the embassy, Sept 1968, and Nov 1968; letters from CS to MS, May 1968, on subjects including preparing for his new post as British Ambassador to France; letter from MS to Lord Hartwell [earlier (William) Michael Berry] on who should finish the official biography of Sir Winston Churchill; letters from the Royal Family, including Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother, Prince Charles, Prince of Wales and Queen Elizabeth II.
