"A Daughter's Tale": family correspondence, 1966, 1966-01 - 2000-08
Scope and Contents
Letters (copies and originals) between Clementine, Lady Churchill and MS on subjects including: MS's visit to Washington [United States] with Randolph Churchill for the unveiling of a statue of Sir Winston Churchill; a proposed statue for Westerham [Kent] by Oscar Nemon; MS's summer in Scotland; the death of Tommy Thompson [Charles Thompson, former personal assistant to Churchill]; difficulties with the public at Chartwell; Clementine's health after a fall; a gift of two of Churchill's paintings for MS and CS.
Also includes: a letter from [Arthur] Nicholas Soames to Clementine; MS's diary notes, Jan 1966, on visiting the Middle East, mainly Iran and Israel, with a photograph of her and CS at the Winston Churchill Auditorium at Technion City, Haifa, and a letter from her to Emma Soames from Jordan; letters from MS to Sarah, Lady Audley [earlier Sarah Churchill, Sarah Oliver and Sarah Beauchamp], on Sarah's book of poetry "The Empty Spaces and the paintings of [Ernest] Lobo Nocho.
