"A Daughter's Tale": family correspondence, 1953, 1953-02 - 2005-03
Scope and Contents
Letters, mainly between Clementine, Lady Churchill and MS, with one from MS to Sarah Beauchamp [earlier Sarah Churchill and Sarah Oliver, later Sarah, Lady Audley] on subjects including: Christmas 1952; Diana Sandys [earlier Diana Churchill and Diana Bailey] having a nervous breakdown; various summer shooting parties, including at Swinton Park, Yorkshire and Lochmore, Scotland; Sir Winston Churchill's failing health and depression; staying at La Capponcina in Cap d'Ail, France, with Churchill.
Also includes: MS's memoir of Queen Elizabeth II's coronation; photographs of a visit to Jamaica [? Jan 1953], including one of Churchill and also a line up with MS and CS, Clementine, 1st Lord Beaverbrook [earlier Max Aitken], Sir Hugh Foot, Governor of Jamaica [later Lord Caradon] and [William] Alexander Bustamente, Chief Minister of Jamaica; copies of letters from MS to her cousin Judy Montagu, 1953-64, on subjects including Judy's marriage to Milton Gendel and the suicide of Diana Sandys [earlier Diana Churchill and Diana Bailey].
