Scope and Contents

Alan Lascelles' first diary was a gift from his Great Aunt Lou [Lady Louisa Hillingdon] when he was at school at Hazelhurst and thereafter he kept diaries intermittently while at Marlborough. The main series, however, commences with LASL 1/1/6 in October 1905 when Lascelles went up to Trinity College, Oxford, and began keeping a diary on a regular basis.

Conditions Governing Access

From the Fonds:

Permission to consult CLOSED material within the Lascelles papers (LASL 1/2/1-6; and sections of LASL 2-4) and the catalogue describing the closed material must be obtained from the Royal Archives. The remainder of the collection is open for consultation by researchers using Churchill Archives Centre, Churchill College, Cambridge.
