Scope and Contents

Side 1 is a recording of the Today Programme from April 1991, including: an interview with Lynda Chalker, Minister for Overseas Development, on a safe haven for the Iraqi Kurds; an interview with Professor Stewart Sutherland, Vice-Chairman of the Committee of Vice-Chancellors and Principals, on the need for increased higher education spending; report on the respective advertising techniques used by the Conservatives and Labour, leading up to the local elections campaign.

Side 2 is a recording from the Today Programme from October 1991, with a report by the BBC Europe correspondent Graham Leach on the draft Maastricht Treaty, particularly the argument about Britain's opt-out clause from the European single currency.
