Scope and Contents
Interview for the magazine of the Institute of Directors on Labour’s relations with the business community. Subjects include: Labour's plans for spending on public services and tax increases; levels of inflation; the national minimum wage; high executive pay rises, especially among privatised industries; Labour's relations with the trades unions; the Government's attitude towards the manufacturing industry; investment from overseas employers, particularly from Japan; the effects of European economic legislation and of economic and monetary union; the legacy of Margaret Thatcher and Labour's attitude to the market; Clause 4.
The final 15 minutes of side 2 is a recording of a news bulletin on subjects including Liberal Democrat proposals for a local income tax as an alternative to the Poll Tax and the new Conservative move for a youth vote, by favouring Radio 1 for John Major's interviews.
