Includes: background papers; meetings, negotiations and correspondence with the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) and the National Coal Board (NCB), particularly with Arthur Scargill, President of the NUM, and Ian MacGregor, Chairman of NCB; speeches, statements and press releases from both sides of the dispute and the Labour Party; papers relating to the effect of the strike in Wales, particularly in NK's Islwyn constituency, the Llanwern Steelworks, and on the closure of St John's colliery, Maesteg; papers on rallies and miners' support groups; papers on media coverage of the strike; drafts of the Labour pamphlet "The Case for Coal"; press-cuttings; papers from the Coalfield Communities campaign.

The collection is open for consultation by researchers using Churchill Archives Centre, Churchill College, Cambridge. Churchill Archives Centre is open from Monday to Friday, 9am-5pm. A prior appointment and two forms of identification are required.
