Includes his diaries and material relating to the riots and destruction of the Embassy (1963)
13/A Diaries for 1963, '64, & ' 66. Detailed day by day accounts of:
(i) the riots and destruction of the Embassy (1963), 2 copies;
(ii) continuous narrative of above with list of staff and personal possesions destroyed.
(iii) a visit to Singapore (1964), 2 copies.
(iv) the coup and the Pakistan National Day celebrations which preceded it (1966).
(v) Account of a Russian cultural evening 1965 - inludes comments on Soekarno.
13/B Detailed financial costings and accounts for the emergency operation of the temporary Embassy - 1964.
13/C Official despatches to the F.O. 1963-67. Compiled file of 62 despatches in all - indexed .
13/D Official correspondence and Ambassador's Telegrams, many marked restricted or confidential. 1962-66.
(ii) general telegrams and correspondence, reports etc. Many are copies of despatches or additional drafts.
(iii) re the Ambassador's bungalow and the conditions for Embassy wives.
13/E "Recent development in Anglo-Indonesian relations." F. O . record - Sept ' 63. Marked restricted.
13/F Briefing notes - informal drafts and notes presumably for the guidance of his successor.
13/G Text/notes for speeches - five in all: - Chatham House; the NA TO Naval College - 2 versions; the Imperial Defence College and one unidentified but found with these: 1964-66.
13/H Subandrio Trial - transcript. Covering correspondence which actually relates to a former servant of Lady Gilchrist's - the unclassified minute of the reply was the covering note to the material sent to AG.
13/J Background materials : New Yorker, Encounter and A.G's reading notes, (his personal preparation materials).
13/K Personal correspondence:
(i) contemporaneous,
(ii) subsequent but of related interest and about Indonesian issues.
(iii) Letter to AG from G.F.N. Reddaway (political Adviser to the C-in-C) about the situation in Indonesia and the press coverage it received. Sent via the Diplomatic bag to the Commonwealth Office. 1966.·
13/L Copy of the Indonesian National Anthem.
13/M Press cuttings - many relating to the 1963 riots, also the Leader article on A.G 's appointment and an acount of the Subandrio trial which names AG.
13/N two black and white photographs in poor condition.
13/O Official document in Indonesian - purpose and content unknown.
13/P Ms materials - drafts for papers or chapters? no dates or titles.
