Scope and Contents

12/A Papers relating to the "Cod War": white papers, press cuttings, public statements, Iceland' s official statement - UN and Council of Europe Submissions. 1950s & 1970s. 12/B Official reports and Ambassador's telegrams. Includes full compilation of all F.O. Telegrams and Dispatches made by Sir Andrew for his successor. 1959. 12/C Correspondence: (i) contemporaneous personal - includes article about Burns and the Canadian Boat song and also account of fishing in Iceland, 1950s; (ii) from after the posting but with Icelanders and about matters Icelandic, dates mainly from the 1960s & 70s. 12/D Book and section from AG's autobiography concerning Bjarni Benediktsson. 12/E Papers on sport in Iceland. 12/F Papers re the book/autobiography Cod Wars and how to loose them. Includes the official F.O. clearance and translations of Icelandic reviews. 12/G Poems. 12/H Cartoon - on AG playing Chopin while the Embassy was stoned.
